Materials Manager is responsible for Purchasing, Inventory Control, and Receiving.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports addressing inventory, purchases, and receipts.


  • Monitor on a daily basis purchases, material costs, receiving and dock activities, inventory activities, and warehouse activities.


  • Participate daily in the Daily Schedule Attainment.


  • Establishes budgets and manages the expenses.


  • Closely monitors the Purchasing Function and cost containment efforts.


  • Accomplishes yearly performance review on all subordinates.


  • Major ISO Responsibilities


  • Material Cost Reductions


  • Inventory accuracy, quantity, and Reporting.


  • Lead and manage work team to achieve purchasing requirements and inventory levels.


  • Measure and improve on time in full delivery to customers.


Supervisory Responsibilities


Manages/Supervisors four Material Buyers, three Cycle Counters and three to four Warehouse Material Handlers. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.




  • Must be literate and an experienced user of Syteline ERP/MRP systems and demonstrate a thorough understanding of MRP logic and application.


  • Candidate must demonstrate lean and six sigma competencies and understanding and articulate a thorough understanding of statistical analysis and application.

Education and/or Experience


  • Master’s degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
